In Memoriam
Pedro Menchen Herreros. (Membrilla, Ciudad Real 1940-Madrid 2021). Founding partner of Estudio Menchén Abogados. State Attorney since 1967. He left us his example and his legacy of values, including freedom and respect.
A life dedicated to law
Pedro Menchén Herreros spent his entire professional life in the legal profession: initially as a State Attorney, who a few years later made it compatible with free practice, combining it with his different assignments: the last decades in the “Audiencia Nacional” and in the Supreme Court .
He alone had to interrupt this dual activity during the years he held the post of Deputy Director General for Litigation.
In addition to defending and advising his clients and the State, he also served as an arbitrator and was one of the promoters of the Civil and Commercial Court of Arbitration (CIMA). He was a renowned arbitrator and lawyer, having worked as such with dedication, enthusiasm, study and clairvoyance until his last day.
Despite his prestige as a lawyer, he was always characterized by an unusual modesty, simplicity and kindness: an excellent colleague, who always helped those who had the fortune to be close, leaving friends and more friends in his wake, his fine and friendly irony and his good pen have left us memories, an imprint and a collection of writings that he never wanted to publish and that will remain in the family heritage.
